It's here - we are moving!

So move in day is just around the corner – F I N A L L Y! Tomorrow (Monday, June 13) will be changeover day where we move the Centre's operations for the sleeping dormitory and the kitchen and cafeteria facilities to the new building. We started today with getting the mattresses that weren't busy situated in their new homes on brand new bunk beds with the rest of the sleeping equipment making its way over tomorrow morning. It has been a busy few weeks getting beds, chairs, tables, cleaning supplies and the list goes on organized, ordered and on site for tomorrow to happen. Lots of hard work by many volunteers and staff has made tomorrow possible – thanks to all who have been involved. The labs will open later this week with a little luck and we are still awaiting the arrival of more new furniture. Keep posted for more photos of our new home!



On Thursday, June 16 we will have our first summer lecture series! Dr. Brent Wolfe from Wilfrid Laurier University will be speaking about “Messages in the Mud” and his work extracting the story from the sediments of shallow tundra ponds in the Churchill area. The talk will be at the CNSC starting at 7:30 pm. Give us a call if would like a ride out to the Centre.

I spent June 6-10 at the York Factory National Historic Site on the Hayes River working on the “Saving York Factory” project. Here are a few photos for those interested of the NHS in June 2011!
