New building construction and connections

It almost seems like the last month has been the most drawn out month on record but also has passed into oblivion at an extremely rapid pace - Is the new building done yet? and where did May go? are the two most common questions around the Centre and rightly so. The progress continues at a rapid pace and we hope to be in our newly constructed facility in the next few weeks. I'll get back to you when we have an exact date.





In other news, the spring conditions (but on the winter side) continue to dominate here in Churchill. Almost every day, the morning grey skies and overnight skiff of snow have been greeted by a few sunny breaks in the afternoon if you're lucky. This means that things are not melting quite as fast as we might like. Check out the last 24 hours below. Our summer researchers have begun streaming in so we are excited to meet the new folks and welcome back old friends!


Here are a few other panoramic views. These are mostly for Brent, Roland and Merrin but I think everyone else will enjoy seeing the snow in the trees as well. I think under the snowpack in amongst the larch trees are mostly wet areas that connect the ponds. At Larch, we definitely found a small "stream" connecting it to the next unnamed wetland on the map.
