Today marked an exciting day for CNSC research staff. In order to get a photograph up close of the new building, Carley was the first of the research staff to set foot into the new building. In the name of science (and providing us with a few photos for the blog), she donned a hard hat and made her way onto the construction site under Penn-Co construction supervision to provide a view from the top.

Here is the view from the second floor of the building looking northwest towards the Bay. This is where some of the new residence rooms will be located. Note the overcast skies with a few flurries falling.

The northwest end of the first floor of the building will be the new laboratory area. The north end of the building at the background of the photo will be a mechanical room and stairway access.

Today was also cleanup and reorganizing time in the existing lab. With the completion of the walls for the new mechanical room in the existing building done earlier this winter, we now have the task of getting things organized for the spring. Lab cleanup always starts with a run to the scrap metal dump!
Happy long weekend.
